From an eMail I’ve just received … if anybody wants Robert’s phone numbers then please just eMail me.

There will be an informal gathering of members of the Association on 7th-8th December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The President, Dan Westmoreland (OM’69), and the officers want to encourage all interested in joining us (non-members, family and friends). Please feel free to attend any or all of the events over the weekend.

Fr Michael Beattie SJ (OM’46) will celebrate an anticipated mass of the Immaculate Conception at 7.00pm on Friday 7th December in the Sodality Chapel. This will be followed by coffee in the Jesuit Library and at 8.00pm some of us will go out for a meal, probably at the Mulan Chinese Restaurant in Renishaw. Some are staying overnight at the Ibis Hotel in Barlborough or Sitwell Hotel. The Headmaster, Laurence McKell, has invited us to watch the 1st XV play St Peter’s, York at the college on Saturday and will meet us for a light lunch beforehand. This is an idealĀ  opportunity for us all to see the new sports facilities – including the bar! Fr Michael will say a mass on Saturday (the time will be decided later).

Please forward this to your friends who may be interested in joining you and let me know if you are able to join us. I apologise in advance if you are receiving duplicate emails but I am anxious to get in touch with as many as possible. Final arrangements will be available on the website www.mountassociation.co.uk and I will email all those who have been in touch.

If you have not seen it already the latest issue of the Mount Association Newsletter is now available for download or viewing on the website. Or pick up a hard copy at the weekend.

    Hope to see you

    Robert

It’s amazing that of all those from our year that I have managed to track down with relative ease are folks that live on the other sides of the world, relatively speaking.

To date we have one in Australia, one in Hong Kong, one in Canada and two in America with only one from the UK so far! This leads me nicely on to my latest hit:

I’m struggling with a couple of names I have on my list and I need help.

I could just blame it on our age – because I’m not going to suffer this alone – but the reality is I don’t forget much. Michael Lam (ding ding) may disagree with me but the simple truth is that these names mean nothing. Al least with Michael I knew his name even if I still can’t place his face or where he sat, slept, etc. Anyway, enough preamble, the names I’m struggling with are:

    • Alejandro Serrate
    • Rohit Jaiswal

There is also one other name I feel I need to discuss. This name wasn’t on the list from the school of those whom did their O’s in 1980 and to be honest I can’t recall now if he left before or not.

    • Kevin O’Hara

I have very clear recollections of him, especially in rugby practice as he never did learn the value of the sidestep and he was probably the easiest person to tackle. Once you understood he only ever ran in a straight line, then tackling him was easy. Anyway, is it just my imagination or didn’t he make it as far as Syntax?

    OK,

TheĀ  website completely disappeared due to an issue with the hosting company and an incompatibility in a file! Who’d want to work with computers?

Anyway, I’ve managed to fix it now and took the opportunity too upgrade the blog software to the latest version and I’ve also installed a very simple plugin that creates a forum. You’ll find it under the pages heading on the links section called, quite simply, The Forum.

Please do use it to chat about anything you want – to each other – about the reunion – to raise ideas – make suggestions – discuss issues – in fact anything you want. If the one group (General) becomes too complicated I’ll create additional groups as and when requested or as the need arises.

Anyway – enjoy and do use.
