    Hi all,

    It’s with sadness that I discovered today that Dominic passed away last September or October.

    I don’t know any details at the moment (and if I find out I will edit this message) but only found out the news from a much younger relation of mine who happened to teach with him at the same school.

    The world is a dimmer place because of his passing.

    Go peacefully Dominic.

    Those of you in the BH Facebook group will already have seen this but today a message was sent on the school’s behalf. I present it in full for your delectation below:

    Hi members,
    the secretary of the BHPA Vix Southgate has asked me to let you know about the school’s 70th anniversary that is coming up this year I believe.
    The BHPA would like to collect ‘memories’ and photographs from past and present pupils, parents, teachers, staff and all those who have had a connection with the school, or indeed those who had connections with the Hall before it became a school.
    As Vix has said this is a fantastic opportunity to remember some of your stories from BH over the last 70 years.
    The Stories may funny, sad or poignant. Some may just chart general school life….All welcome!
    Send your stories to: bhsmemories [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk by Mid February.

    Best wishes to all.

    I guess if you can help then they’d love to hear from you.

    Myself, I’ve sent the link to the pictures I have here and my story about sticking my feet through the ceiling just outside the refectory!

    So….

    Maybe it’s because it is anonymous, but at least I’m getting a few more answers via the mini poll than other methods.

    I’m not surprised that the votes to not attend are more than the total of the “do something” all added together – albeit only by the one vote at present.

    Thought some of you might like these stats for the past month since I added the poll:

    91 people visited this site

    • 57.66%
    • Bounce Rate – this refers to the number of folks that visit one page and no more

    This was mailed to me yesterday:

    It is with sadness that we have to let you know of the death of Fr John Grumitt SJ, who died at Boscombe on 19th October 2009, suddenly and unexpectedly after being mildly ill.  Fr Grumitt was the last Jesuit Head of Mount St Mary’s and will be very well and fondly remembered by OMs of that time (1976 – 1990).

    May he rest in Peace.

    The arrangements for Fr Grumitt’s funeral are as follows:

    • Reception of the body to Farm Street Church at 5.30 pm on Monday 26th October;
    • Requiem Mass at Farm Street Church on Tuesday 27th at 11.00 am; followed by a reception in the Parish Hall;
    • Fr Bertie Banyard SJ will be the preacher;
    • All welcome.

    · The Mount St Mary’s community will be paying its respects in several ways:

    · Sunday Mass on 25th October 2009 will be offered for the repose of his Soul.  The Mass, at 10.30 am in the Memorial Chapel, is being celebrated as part of the Mount Association annual reunion weekend, and many former pupils will be present.  All are welcome to attend.

    · The Chair of Governors, The Headmaster, the Head Boy and Head Girl will represent the College at the Requiem Mass at Farm Street on Tuesday.

    · On return from Half Term, the Whole School Mass on Monday 2nd Nov at 11.50 will be offered for him; all are welcome to attend.

    · In consultation with Fr Grumitt’s family and the Society, as well as the Mount Association, details about a memorial mass at the Mount will be communicated in due course.

    Please remember Fr Grumitt in your prayers

    Director of Sport’s PA/Alumni Secretary
